Violence and homicides in Shreveport

Overview

A series of violent incidents in the ArkLaTex region, specifically within Caddo Parish and Shreveport, resulted in multiple fatalities over a single weekend.

One major incident involved a targeted double homicide where LaJames Smith, 31, and David Young, 26, died after their vehicle crashed into a building. Surveillance footage showed a suspect approaching the crashed car and firing multiple rounds into it. Other fatalities included the shooting of Jamarkus Fisher during a gas station fight and the stabbing death of Stemond Scott following a domestic dispute.

Following the incidents, Shreveport Police Department spokesperson Chris Bordelon indicated that investigators believed they were close to making arrests in the double homicide case, noting that multiple individuals might be involved. A 19-year-old man was briefly taken into custody in connection with the investigation.
