Violence in German amateur football

Incidents of violence involving officials and players have been reported in German amateur football leagues.

In Lübeck, police began investigating an assault following a Landesliga Holstein match between Türkischer SV and FC Dornbreite. Authorities reported that spectators entered the pitch after the final whistle, resulting in a 27-year-old referee being pushed and spat upon, and a 22-year-old player being kicked. A 56-year-old suspect was identified at the scene.

In a separate incident in Siegen-Wittgenstein, a Kreisliga match between SC Siegen and SV Setzen 2 was abandoned after a player physically attacked a referee. Following a disputed decision, a 22-year-old player reportedly grabbed the official and threw him backward onto the pitch. The referee sustained minor injuries and filed a criminal complaint. The attacker faces potential criminal penalties, including a fine or up to five years in prison, while a regional sports court is set to determine sporting consequences.
