In late August, a Sijín police lieutenant, Edilberto Pinilla Cárdenas, was killed during an operation in the Ciudad Bolívar district. Three individuals were arrested and firearms were seized during the operation.

In a separate development regarding a February assassination in the La Cabrera neighborhood, authorities in Villavicencio arrested an alleged logistical coordinator. The suspect is accused of conducting surveillance via motorcycle during an attack that killed a rice businessman and his security escort. Investigators stated the perpetrators were reportedly targeting a different individual but struck the wrong victim.
