Violent crime incidents in Vienna

Overview

A series of violent incidents and police interventions occurred in various districts of Vienna. On September 24, police arrested three suspects following a stabbing and pepper spray attack in the Ottakring district. During the same period, officers responded to a confrontation in Favoriten where a suspect injured a police officer, and investigated a suspected drive-by shooting at a tram station in Absberggasse.

On September 26, authorities conducted a raid in the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district after reports of a loud bang suspected to be a gunshot. The WEGA special unit entered the apartment of a 31-year-old Russian national, where they found ammunition, pepper spray, and a spent shell casing. While the door lock appeared deformed, suggesting it may have been struck by a shot, a subsequent search did not uncover a firearm.
