Violent incidents involving intoxicated individuals in DE

Overview

On September 13, 2026, multiple incidents of violence and harassment involving intoxicated individuals were reported in Germany.

In the evening, a 20-year-old man caused disturbances at train stations in Bochum and Dortmund. The incidents began around 6:00 PM at Bochum main station, where the man threatened two minors following a dispute over a dropped glass bottle and struck a 44-year-old female employee in the back of the head. Although detained, he was released after a breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.3 per mille. Later, around 7:40 PM at Dortmund main station, the same individual became violent during a police check regarding a theft. He reportedly insulted and spat on a federal police officer and struck or kicked officers, leading to his custody on charges of physical assault, resistance against law enforcement, and insults.

Separately, an 18-year-old man from Neuss was arrested by the Bundespolizei after attacking a school class on a regional express train (RE 100) traveling toward Münsterland. The suspect, who was intoxicated, reportedly ignored orders from railway staff and sexually harassed several students, including 16-year-olds. The situation escalated when the suspect punched two 15-year-old boys in the face, resulting in one suspected nasal fracture. He faces investigations for sexual coercion, sexual harassment, bodily harm, and resisting law enforcement.
