Violent robberies targeting footballers in Seville

Overview

A series of violent armed robberies targeting professional footballers has occurred in the province of Seville, Spain.

On October 19, 2026, five masked individuals entered the home of former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico and his partner, Alba Silva, in Bollullos de la Mitación. The assailants reportedly entered while the family, including two young children and Silva’s mother, was having dinner. During the incident, intruders allegedly tied up Rico and used firearms to threaten family members while stealing jewelry, watches, and cash valued at approximately 600,000 euros. While Rico clarified to media that he was not physically beaten, Alba Silva has expressed significant emotional trauma and anxiety following the event.

This incident is part of a broader pattern in the region. Other recent targets include Irish striker Troy Parrott in Tomares and Brazilian winger Antony. Security experts suggest these crimes are not random acts but involve professional organization, including prior surveillance and targeted information gathering to select high-value victims.
