Violent shootings in Costa Rica

Overview

Recent violent incidents in Costa Rica have involved targeted shootings in the San José and Heredia regions.

In Alajuelita, San José, a 30-year-old man was wounded after being intercepted by two individuals on a motorcycle. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, shoulders, and leg. The Judicial Investigation Body (OIJ) is investigating the attack, considering a possible connection to a previous double homicide in San Rafael Arriba de Desamparados.

In the Guararí sector of Heredia, an ambush targeting two brothers, identified by the surname Rojas, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man and left a 31-year-old man in critical condition. Both victims sustained chest wounds. While a motive has not been determined, authorities are investigating the possibility of a targeted settlement.
