Virgen del Pilar and regional celebrations in Spain

Overview

Various regions in Spain are holding celebrations for the feast of the Virgen del Pilar, the patron saint of the Guardia Civil, alongside regional holidays such as the Day of the Valencian Community.

In Andalusia, the Guardia Civil organized open houses in Jaén and Córdoba to allow students to observe specialized equipment, including aerial services, drones, and canine units. In Albacete, a solidarity race was organized to benefit people with physical disabilities.

As preparations for the October 12 celebrations continue, regional commands are finalizing official ceremonies and religious services. In Cuenca, officers have conducted rehearsals near the local Commandancy to prepare for upcoming parades. In Guadalajara, festivities will include a mass officiated by the Bishop of Sigüenza-Guadalajara, a flag-raising ceremony at the Adoratrices school, the awarding of decorations, and a military parade.

In Soria, institutional acts are scheduled to take place at Plaza Mariano Granados, presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Peñarroya Grande. This program includes a military parade, a solemn Eucharist at the El Salvador parish church, and a media exhibition in La Dehesa.
