Vuelta Ciclista a Castilla-La Mancha cycling race
Overview
The second edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Castilla-La Mancha is underway, covering approximately 1,000 kilometers across five provinces. The event includes both men’s and women’s competitions, with the women’s race featuring fifteen national and international teams and specialized security provided by the Guardia Civil.
In the men’s competition, which features 23 elite and sub-23 teams, Swiss rider Victor Benareau of the High Level-Gsport team has taken an early lead. After winning the opening stage between Tarancón and Quintanar del Rey, Benareau secured a second consecutive victory in a high-speed sprint finish between Tarazona de la Mancha and Hellín. He currently holds the leader’s white jersey, the points jersey, and the best young rider jersey.
Regional authorities, including Vice President José Luis Martínez Guijarro, have emphasized the event’s economic and social significance. The race is expected to generate over 500,000 euros for the local hospitality sector while promoting rural development and tourism. The competition is scheduled to conclude in Manzanares, with the final stage finishing at the Plaza del Gran Teatro.
