Walt Disney World digital service and resort updates

Overview

Walt Disney World has implemented several updates to its My Disney Experience app to enhance guest services.

Initial updates focused on dining, expanding mobile food ordering capabilities to include locations such as the Nomad Lounge To Go at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While some technical errors were noted during the rollout, the service also includes location-based restrictions for certain popular hotel restaurants during peak periods.

Subsequent updates expanded the app’s room request capabilities. Guests can now select more granular preferences for hotel stays, such as specific buildings or floors, rather than relying on broader location selections. This digital expansion may reduce the need for travelers to use third-party services that previously facilitated detailed room requests via fax.

Recent developments include the announcement of Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, scheduled to open on July 1, 2027. Guests at this new resort will receive Early Theme Park Entry, Extended Evening Hours, and free entry to either Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon or Disney’s Blizzard Beach during the summer season. This water park perk will not be extended to guests staying at the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

Additionally, Disney has modified Annual Passholder merchandise discounts; while a 20% discount remains on eligible items, certain previously qualifying purchases are no longer included. Regarding park access, high demand has impacted Magic Kingdom, with Annual Passholder reservations for November 11, 2026, reportedly unavailable, likely due to filming for an ABC holiday special.
