Walt Disney World resort policy and expansion updates

Overview

Walt Disney World has introduced new regulations across its properties to manage guest activities and resort access.

At Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, new “Campsite and Cabin Rules” prohibit the sale, advertisement, or solicitation of goods and services without written approval. The policy also strictly forbids guests from providing bartending services or selling and serving alcohol to others within the resort.

Additionally, the company has implemented stricter enforcement regarding transportation. To prevent unauthorized use by off-site visitors, guests using Disney transportation from Disney Springs must now present a MagicBand, MagicMobile pass, or physical ticket. Boarding is restricted to those with an active hotel stay or a confirmed dining reservation scheduled within two hours of boarding. Those unable to meet these requirements are required to use third-party rideshare services.

Looking toward 2027, the resort has announced several expansions and operational updates. A significant dining expansion is scheduled, with six new restaurants opening across Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the upcoming Lakeshore Lodge. These openings are linked to large-scale projects including the Tropical Americas expansion and a Monsters, Inc. themed area.

Other planned developments include the introduction of the “Lilypad smart tablet experience” in Toy Story Land and an unannounced addition to the EPCOT World Showcase located between the Italy and American Adventure pavilions. Meanwhile, the Walt Disney World Railroad is set for a temporary closure.
