Warner Music Group leadership and operations reorganization
Overview
Warner Music Group (WMG) has initiated a major global leadership reorganization within its recorded music divisions to optimize cross-border operations and drive growth.
Key executive appointments include Val Blavatnik, son of majority owner Len Blavatnik, as Managing Director for North America, the UK, and corporate development, and Alejandro Duque as President of Warner Music International, covering APAC and EMEA regions. Aaron Bay-Schuck has been named the sole Chairman and CEO of Warner Records Group, while Guillermo Gonzalez has been promoted to President of Warner Music EMEA. Within the distribution and artist-services division, ADA, Elliot Grainge will serve as Chairman and Zach Friedman as Vice Chairman.
In the UK and Ireland, Sonny Takhar has been appointed CEO to focus on digital transformation and talent development. The restructuring also marks the departure of Simon Robson, President of EMEA Recorded Music, who is leaving the company after nearly 30 years.
Expanding its restructuring efforts, WMG is merging its recorded music and publishing synchronization (sync) activities into a single global organization to streamline licensing for films, television, advertisements, and video games. Ron Broitman has been promoted to President of Global Sync to lead this new unit, reporting to Chief Operating Officer Tom Corson. The unified division will oversee creative pitching, marketing, and licensing clearance across Warner Chappell Music, Atlantic Music Group, Warner Records Group, and ADA.
