Water accidents and rescue operations in Vietnam

Overview

In late August, a boat carrying four men capsized on the Linh Nham River in Thái Nguyên province after striking a water discharge gate at the Linh Nham dam. One passenger reached the shore, and one victim, Đặng Bá Lưu, was recovered. Search operations for the remaining two individuals were conducted by local police and military units amidst high water levels and strong currents.

By early September, additional water-related incidents involving tourists were reported across Vietnam. In Quản Bạ, rescue teams searched for a missing male tourist swept into a cave area at Khâu Làn waterfall. Meanwhile, in Quảng Ngãi province, authorities rescued four tourists from large waves at Mỹ Khê Beach. These incidents occurred during a period of complex weather conditions and increased holiday activity.
