Water contamination in Tuczna, Poland

Overview

Sanitary authorities in the Lubelskie Voivodeship of Poland issued a warning after detecting Escherichia coli and other coliform bacteria in the water supply of Tuczna. The contamination affects approximately 1,400 residents across the villages of Tuczna, Dąbrowica Duża, Choroszczynka, and Bokinka Królewska.

The water has been deemed unfit for human consumption, food preparation, or personal hygiene. Authorities have advised that the water may only be used for flushing toilets. Special precautions have been recommended for vulnerable groups, including newborns, young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

Local authorities are providing bottled water through distribution points such as village community centers and the ‘Wspólna Chata’ Social Cooperative. The District Sanitary-Epidemiological Station in Biała Podlaska is monitoring the situation as the contaminated source undergoes disinfection.
