Water infrastructure maintenance in Tucumán and La Rioja

Overview

Water infrastructure projects and maintenance efforts are being conducted in the Argentine provinces of Tucumán and La Rioja.

In Tucumán, Governor Osvaldo Jaldo supervised the modernization of the water distribution system at the Agua Muñecas Water Treatment Plant. This project involves replacing valves in the El Cadillal Aqueduct that have not been updated in 35 years, utilizing advanced technology to manage water pressure and chlorine levels. Other regional works include the recovery of the La Niña reservoir and interventions at the Celestino Gelsi reservoir.

In La Rioja, the Ministry of Water and Energy implemented preventive maintenance on wells in Tama and Anchico to ensure supply during high consumption periods. These repairs included replacing submersible electropumps and electrical panels. Simultaneously, Tucumán’s Provincial Service of Drinking Water and Sanitation (SEPAPyS) has been performing inspections and repairs in various localities, such as Ranchillos and Colalao del Valle, to diagnose system failures and strengthen sanitary infrastructure.
