Water management developments in Costa Rica and Spain

In Costa Rica, the Regulatory Authority of Public Services (ARESEP) awarded ‘Regulatory Quality Seals’ to 42 community water administrator associations (ASADAS) in the Northern Zone for their commitment to water quality. San Carlos received the highest concentration of these honors, including organizations from Quesada, Aguas Zarcas, Florencia, and La Fortuna.

In Spain, the water sector has seen various institutional and regional developments. The Spanish Urban Water Association (DAQUAS) and the Spanish Association of Desalination and Reuse (AEDyR) entered a two-year collaboration agreement to focus on training, research, and technological innovation to address water scarcity and climate change.

Regionally, Aguas y Servicios marked 30 years of managing the integral water cycle in the Costa Tropical, highlighting the role of cooperation between public administrations and private companies. Additionally, in the province of Cáceres, the Consorcio MásMedio launched tenders exceeding three million euros to renew water supply and integral water cycle services for six localities, including Palomero, Marchagaz, and Carcaboso.
