Water rescue and drowning incidents at reservoirs

Overview

The snapshots report separate drowning incidents at different reservoirs in Germany and Austria.

In late August, two men, aged 28 and 41, were recovered dead from the Pöhl Reservoir in Saxony after having gone missing in June following a boating accident. The Zwickau Police Directorate confirmed the bodies were retrieved by divers.

In mid-September, a search operation was launched in the Völkermarkt Reservoir in Carinthia after a 43-year-old man went missing while attempting to swim from a fishing pier to a boat. While a female partner was rescued by a fisherman and admitted to a clinic, the man remained missing despite searches involving drones, helicopters, and multiple boats.
