Water scarcity relief efforts in Indonesia

Overview

In late August 2026, the Balai Wilayah Sungai (BWS) Maluku addressed water shortages in the Nahel hamlet of Ambon by distributing 5,000 liters of clean water. This brought the total amount delivered to the area to 18,000 liters as of August 27.

By early September, water scarcity relief efforts expanded to the Anambas Islands. The Anambas Islands Police, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the Fire Department collaborated to distribute 20 tons of clean water via sea to various residential areas and public facilities, including hospitals, mosques, temples, and churches in the Tarempa region.
