West Bengal corruption probe of Tulu Mondal

In late July 2026, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced the seizure of assets linked to businessman Tulu Mondal, freezing roughly 93 crore rupees and confiscating cash, gold, vehicles, properties and other items. The chief minister accused the previous Trinamool Congress government, led by Mamata Banerjee, of facilitating the alleged corruption.

A few days later, on 2 August, authorities launched a formal investigation into how Mondal’s firm obtained 84 government construction contracts during the prior Trinamool administration.
