West Virginia and TCU college football matchup

Overview

Ahead of their matchup, West Virginia entered the game with a high-ranking rushing offense despite a 1-3 conference record, while TCU boasted what head coach Rich Rodriguez described as the “best defense in the league.”

In the resulting game, West Virginia secured a 24-20 road victory, improving their record to 5-3. The win ended a 32-season statistical streak for TCU, as they had previously held a 75-0 record in games where they outgained an opponent by at least 210 total yards. Although West Virginia was outgained, the game was decided by a late defensive stand in the red zone where a sack and fumble recovery by linebacker Ben Cutter sealed the win.
