WiCi wireless eGPU platform launch

Overview

California-based startup WiCi has introduced the WiCi One, a wireless external graphics processing unit (eGPU) platform that utilizes Wi-Fi 7 technology to connect to laptops and tablets. The device aims to provide high-end graphics performance for tasks such as 4K gaming, 3D rendering, and local AI processing without the need for physical Thunderbolt or OCuLink cables.

The platform includes its own enclosure, cooling, and power supply, functioning as a complete workstation. Two configurations are available: a base model featuring an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB), an Intel Core 3 100U processor, and 1 TB of NVMe storage, and a high-end model featuring an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 (32 GB), an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, and 4 TB of NVMe 5 storage.

To address the bandwidth limitations of Wi-Fi 7 compared to wired standards, WiCi uses proprietary protocols involving compression, data deduplication, and caching. The company claims the base model can achieve 80 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra settings using DLSS 4. Pre-orders start at $1,999, with shipments expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
