Wild animal attacks in Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

Authorities in Lebanon, New Hampshire, have issued warnings to residents following a series of attacks by an “unusually aggressive” wild animal. Between August 30 and September 1, 2026, at least three individuals were targeted in the Centerra Parkway area.

Surveillance footage captured the animal, which may be a gray fox or a fisher cat, charging at people and attacking a man’s feet and ankles as he exited a vehicle. Due to the creature’s behavior, police and officials have expressed concern that the animal may be suffering from rabies.

The Lebanon Police Department is coordinating with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department to locate the animal. Residents are urged to remain vigilant near wooded areas and to report any bites, scratches, or unusual wildlife encounters immediately.
