Overview

Wildfires have impacted multiple regions across Tamaulipas, Mexico. In late August, fires in the Sierra de San Carlos affected more than 350 hectares of oak forest and shrubland, while a separate grassland fire in the municipality of Jiménez saw significant containment progress.

By mid-September, new forest fires were reported in the Sierra de Soto la Marina, specifically in the Ejido La Peña area, destroying over 200 hectares of oak forest. Authorities utilized aerial water drops via helicopter to assist ground brigades in combating these flames. Throughout these incidents, dry conditions and wind gusts have remained primary challenges for containment and extinction efforts.
