Wildfires in Tuscany province

Wildfires have impacted the Grosseto province in Tuscany, specifically affecting the Orbetello and Gavorrano areas.

A critical fire in the Patanella area, located between Ansedonia and Orbetello, spread through woodland and vegetation. The blaze threatened residential buildings and a railway line, leading to the suspension of train traffic in the affected section. Firefighters from Orbetello and Ansedonia, supported by regional aerial vehicles from both the Vigili del Fuoco and the Tuscany Region, have been deployed to manage the situation and protect homes.

A separate fire in La Castellaccia, within the municipality of Gavorrano, was successfully extinguished by firefighting teams from Follonica and Grosseto. Cleanup operations are underway in that area to prevent reignition.

Broader wildfire activity has been reported across Italy. In the Teramo province, firefighters managed several vegetation fires, including a four-hectare blaze in Castellalto and another in the Riserva dei Calanchi. In Reggio Calabria, local police assisted in the emergency evacuation of an elderly resident in Trizzino as fires threatened homes in hilly terrain. Authorities have attributed the intense fire behavior to low rainfall and increasingly dry vegetation.
