Overview
Wind energy development in Germany is progressing through both new offshore installations and onshore repowering projects.
In the North Sea, RWE has reached the halfway point of the first construction phase of its Nordseecluster offshore wind project. The installation of the 22nd turbine marks a milestone for Nordseecluster A, which aims for full grid connection and a 660 MW capacity by early 2027. A second phase, Nordseecluster B, is planned to add 900 MW of capacity, with commercial operations expected to begin in early 2029.
Onshore, the Nordex Group has secured an order for the Rauschenberg wind farm in Hesse. This repowering initiative will replace five older turbines with modern N175/6. X turbines, each with a 6.8 MW capacity. The project is intended to increase electricity production by utilizing higher wind flows and is expected to begin operations in summer 2028.
