Winnipeg police pursuit and crash investigation
Overview
A high-speed police pursuit in Winnipeg’s West Broadway area resulted in multiple injuries and significant vehicle damage. The incident began following reports of a possible abduction involving a woman being forced into a green, Jeep-style vehicle.
During the chase, a 2023 Ford Bronco collided with a Winnipeg Police Service cruiser and later struck a Mitsubishi Outlander after running a stop sign. The pursuit ended when the Bronco crashed into parked cars and became inoperable.
Initial reports indicated at least two people required medical attention. Subsequent details confirmed that one passenger in the Outlander sustained serious injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the Bronco, Kesif Fontaine, was taken into custody. The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has launched an investigation into the pursuit.
