Wolf predation in Bulgaria

Overview

In the Montana Province of Bulgaria, residents and livestock farmers have reported a series of predator attacks suspected to be caused by a wolf. In the village of Bezdenitsa, reports include a dead dog with severe wounds, a missing dog, and missing goats. Similar incidents involving dog attacks were noted in the neighboring village of Dolno Tserovene.

Local hunters have indicated they cannot take independent action against the predator due to legal restrictions. Mikhail Mihaylov, representing the Bezdenitsa hunting association, stated that they must follow the Law on Hunting, which requires specific official permits to organize a hunt. While farmers are increasing vigilance around shelters, they do not currently believe there is an immediate danger to humans.
