Workplace fatalities in Germany

Overview

A series of fatal workplace accidents involving falling objects has been reported in Germany.

In mid-August, a 56-year-old construction worker died in Bernau bei Berlin after a heavy container fell approximately four meters from a height, striking him at a residential construction site. Police initiated an investigation to determine if safety regulations were violated.

In September, a separate industrial accident occurred in Günzburg when a 1.5-ton concrete component detached from its anchoring. The falling object struck two workers; while one 29-year-old employee was rescued with a leg injury, a 50-year-old colleague died at the scene. Criminal police are investigating the cause of the structural failure.
