WRC hosting status in Croatia

Overview

The World Rally Championship (WRC) is confirmed to return to Croatia in April 2027. Following the announcement, organizers initiated discussions with the FIA, the WRC Promoter, and the Croatian government to extend the event’s presence in the country through 2030.

However, the long-term future of the rally has become uncertain due to a lack of written financial commitment from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport for the 2028–2030 period. Daniel Šaškin, president of the Croatia Rally organizing committee, warned that the event could be removed from the global calendar after 2027 if a defined financial framework is not established.

While economic studies indicate the WRC has brought approximately 100 million euros to the Croatian budget since 2021, Minister of Tourism and Sport Tonči Glavina stated that negotiations regarding continued cooperation are ongoing.
