WSG Tirol performance in Austrian Bundesliga

WSG Tirol has struggled during the early stages of the Austrian Bundesliga season. In early August, the club sought to end a winless streak against SCR Altach while managing player injuries and roster changes.

By late August, WSG Tirol remained at the bottom of the league table. Despite efforts by coach Philipp Semlic to stabilize the defense and maintain progress during a period of restructuring, the team continued its search for its first victory of the season.

On August 27, the club secured its first victory of the Admiral Bundesliga season with a decisive 4-0 win against Austria Lustenau. Played in heavy rain before 4,219 spectators, the match featured a volley from Michael Olakigbe in the 42nd minute following a deflected cross from Husein Balic. Marc Striednig added a third goal with a header from a corner kick, and Nikolai Baden Frederiksen scored a brace, the latter of which included a penalty awarded after a VAR review of a collision involving Lustenau goalkeeper Phillip Böhm. This result moved WSG Tirol out of the bottom of the table and up to seventh place in the standings, while simultaneously ending Austria Lustenau’s unbeaten home streak.
