Yacyretá Binational Entity operations in Paraguay

The Yacyretá Binational Entity (EBY) has reported significant financial and social developments in Paraguay.

In August 2026, the entity’s legal advisory department announced it saved approximately 33.9 million USD over a three-year period from August 2023 to August 2026. These savings were achieved through favorable judicial rulings, settlements, and resolutions concerning labor matters and environmental certificate compliance. The legal department also reported progress in regularizing land titles for families in EBY-built housing, including the delivery of 189 titles.

Following these reports, EBY formalized its commitment to regional development through new investments and training programs. In Paraguay, the entity signed cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to invest 8 billion guaraníes into the Caazapá and Ñeembucú departments. The funds are split equally between the two regions. In Caazapá, the resources will provide seeds, fertilizers, and greenhouse construction for approximately 5,000 producers. In Ñeembucú, the investment covers soil preparation, horticultural nurseries, and pisciculture infrastructure, with production intended for local markets and the ‘Hambre Cero’ government program.

This investment is part of the PRO/PARAGUAY agricultural development initiative, which utilizes technical support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG). In Ñeembucú, the program specifically includes soil preparation for 2,728 hectares, the delivery of tools, and the establishment of apiculture and model ponds for fish farming.

Additionally, EBY launched ‘Impulso Y’ in Argentina, a 12-month professional training program for recent graduates from universities in northeastern Argentina, such as UNNE, UNam, and UTN. The program provides theoretical and practical experience within the Yacyretá Hydroelectric Complex, focusing on technical areas including engineering, hydrology, and environmental management to facilitate local labor insertion.
