Yassine Zaabiri performance at Racing Santander

Overview

Moroccan striker Yassine Zaabiri has demonstrated significant form during his loan spell at Racing Santander from French club Rennes. He recently secured a 2-1 victory for Santander against Espanyol by scoring a winning goal in the 84th minute, helping the team improve its league standing.

Zaabiri has scored eight goals in eleven matches, tying with Lamine Yamal for third place on the La Liga top scorers list, trailing only Raphinha and Kylian Mbappé. His recent performance has exceeded his initial seasonal targets and has increased pressure on Espanyol manager Manuel Gonzalez.

His market value has reportedly risen from 9 million to 20 million euros between June and October 2026. While English clubs including Leeds United and Ipswich Town have reportedly shown interest, and former coach Mimoun Mokhtari suggested the player has the potential to join elite clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Manchester City, Rennes' sporting director Loic Désiré has indicated that the club views the player as a long-term investment.
