Yemen West Coast military conflict
Overview
Conflict on Yemen’s West Coast has intensified through heavy fighting between various military factions. Between August and September 2026, the National Resistance reported significant casualties, claiming over 500 members were killed and 1,500 wounded during Houthi offensives involving missile strikes, drones, and explosive-laden boats. The National Resistance, supported by Saudi Arabia and tribal volunteers, moved to new defensive lines to counter these attacks.
Concurrently, the Yemeni military conducted a large-scale operation titled ‘By Allah, He is more severe in punishment and more devastating’ between September 3 and September 11. This operation targeted Saudi military deployments across six districts in the Taiz and Al Hudaydah governorates, covering approximately 5,400 square kilometers. The Yemeni military reported the removal of Saudi deployments, the seizure of weapons and machinery, and the liberation of Yemeni armed forces members previously held by Saudi-aligned forces.
