Yemeni diaspora protests against Houthi actions

Overview

Members of the Yemeni diaspora have organized a series of protests across Europe to demand international intervention against Houthi militia activities.

In Brussels and The Hague, demonstrators gathered at the European Parliament and the Peace Palace to call for an end to the siege of Taiz. Protesters urged the European Union and the Dutch government to exert diplomatic pressure to open main roads, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and hold those responsible for attacks on civilians and medical facilities accountable. They also demanded the release of UN employees detained since mid-2024.

In Berlin, protesters expanded their demands to include the legal designation of the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization by the German government, the EU, and the UN. Participants called for an immediate halt to missile and drone attacks across various Yemeni provinces and emphasized the need to protect international maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
