Yemeni military inspections and Houthi conflict
Overview
Yemeni military leadership and government officials have conducted inspections of various fronts to assess combat readiness and operational capabilities against Houthi militias. In Saada Governorate, Othman Mujalli of the Presidential Leadership Council visited military sites in the Baqam, Kataf, and Al-Buq’a axes. Mujalli reviewed the deployment of forces, met with commanders, and praised troop morale. He criticized Iranian involvement in the conflict, accusing the country of smuggling weapons and experts to support Houthi operations, which he claimed threatens regional security and Red Sea maritime navigation. He also expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabian support for the Yemeni legitimacy.
In Taiz Governorate, Major General Abubakar al-Jubuli, commander of the Fourth Mountain Infantry Brigade, inspected the strategic Jardad front. Al-Jubuli dismissed Houthi claims of territorial advances in the area, labeling them “false rumors intended to create panic” and asserting that military situations remain under control. Expanding these inspections to the humanitarian and legal sectors, Yemen’s Minister of Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Judge Ishraq al-Maqtari, visited several fronts in Taiz, including Rasen, Jabal Jardad, al-Kadha, and Bani Bakari. Al-Maqtari assessed the conditions and challenges faced by personnel and condemned Houthi attacks on residential areas and villages, which have caused civilian displacement.
Recently, Yemeni Information Minister Muammar al-Eryani warned of an intensifying Houthi psychological and media warfare campaign in the Taiz governorate. Al-Eryani stated that Houthi propaganda utilizes impersonated accounts, old footage, and digital manipulation—including artificial intelligence—to create a misleading information environment. Building on these efforts, Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz, the Yemeni Chief of Staff and Joint Operations Commander, has been monitoring military operations in Taiz via telephone briefings with leaders such as Major General Yousef al-Sharaji and Major General Khalid Fadel.
