Øygarden residential building explosion

Overview

On August 25, an explosion and subsequent fire destroyed a multi-unit residential building in Foldnes, Øygarden municipality, Norway. The blast caused a wall to be blown out and the roof to collapse, resulting in the destruction of all four residential units.

Initial reports indicated that a man in his 20s was missing following the incident. Subsequent updates confirmed that one person died and two others were injured. Among the injured was an ambulance worker who was responding to a welfare check; that individual was reported to be in stable condition.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the blast, noting the possibility that it was triggered by gas from a propane tank.
