Yung Miami solo album rollout and City Girls status
Overview
Rapper Yung Miami is promoting her debut solo album, ‘Watch Dis’, which is scheduled for release on October 23. Following her tenure with the duo City Girls, Miami released a double single on October 2 featuring the tracks ‘2008’ and ‘F U’. The music video for ‘2008’, produced by J White, has surpassed 1 million views on YouTube, marking the second video from her solo career to reach that milestone after her previous record ‘Spend Dat’. The single ‘F U’ was produced by London On Da Track and utilizes a sample of ‘F-U’ by Yo Gotti and Meek Mill.
Yung Miami has officially released ‘Watch Dis!’ through Uptown Records and Republic Records. The 21-track project features collaborators such as Travis Scott, Summer Walker, Bryson Tiller, Rick Ross, Trina, Trick Daddy, Quavo, and G Herbo. The album also includes remixes of the platinum-certified single ‘Spend Dat’, featuring Lil Baby and Kodak Black, as well as an international version with Davido, Shenseea, and Vybz Kartel.
A central theme of the album is the public fallout between Miami and her former City Girls partner, JT. The track ‘Dear JT’ serves as an emotional open letter regarding their fractured friendship and the tensions following their 2023 album, RAW. In an interview with HOT 97, Miami described the recording process as a tearful experience and noted she did not share the song with JT before its release. While expressing openness to future reconciliation, stating, “If the phone call happens, I’ma answer it, and we’ll go from there,” Miami remains focused on her solo identity.
