Zalău cultural and historical heritage initiatives

The Zalău County Museum of History and Art has initiated several programs focused on local heritage and history in Zalău, Romania.

In early August 2026, the museum launched an educational program titled ‘Discover Zalău on Foot!’ as part of the Zalău Municipality Days celebrations. This initiative utilizes information panels installed at various bus stations to present the city’s history, heritage, and notable personalities through a participatory walking route.

Following this, the museum announced a round table discussion scheduled for August 25, 2026, titled ‘Memories of Zalău and the National Day of August 23’. Organized in collaboration with the ‘Tinerețe fără bătrânețe’ Day Center for the Elderly, the event seeks to reconstruct local history by pairing archival data with personal testimonies from citizens regarding life during the communist era, specifically focusing on how the August 23 National Day was celebrated.
