Zlín schoolboy disappearance

In late July 2026 a young schoolboy went missing in the centre of Zlín, Czech Republic, after leaving a shop in a shopping complex. Police received the report around 13:20 and immediately mobilised more than a dozen patrol units, including traffic, foreign‑national, criminal investigators and canine teams. An operation officer also sent an SMS alert to all mobile phones within a three‑kilometre radius, distributing tens of thousands of messages.

Within minutes, members of the public spotted the child on a nearby street and alerted officers. The boy had walked roughly two kilometres in the opposite direction of his home, but was located unharmed and safely reunited with his mother. The coordinated police response and rapid public assistance were credited with ending the search quickly.

A follow‑up report two days later reiterated the same sequence of events, confirming the effectiveness of the alert system and community involvement in locating the missing child.
