Brazil tourism investment and development initiatives

Overview

In late July 2026, Brazil unveiled Brahic, a platform created by Invest.Rio and partner Arturo García Rosa to connect public and private leaders, investors, and developers to hospitality and real-estate opportunities. The initiative aims to convert international interest into concrete projects, with its first forum scheduled for March 15–16, 2027, in Rio de Janeiro.

Simultaneously, the Brazilian Hotel Independent Forum (FBHI) announced a return to an in-person format at Equipotel 2026 in São Paulo on September 17. Curated by Ameris Hotéis, the event will address digital evolution and technology. This follows a period of significant sector growth, with R$13.6 billion in investments recorded in the first half of 2026 and 178 new hotels expected to open by year-end.

Regional momentum continued through major conferences: the 10th UNECongress in Florianópolis (July 27–30) addressed business tourism and sustainability for Sergipe with international participants, and the inaugural Turistrends congress in Goiânia (August 25) focused on innovation and market intelligence.

Expanding on these efforts, the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism has opened a public tender, in cooperation with UNESCO, to hire entities to develop and market specialized tourism products. This program targets segments such as birdwatching, long-distance trails, and community-based tourism to enhance national competitiveness through natural and cultural heritage. Proposals are due by September 8, 2026.
