Acre state administrative and environmental management

The state of Acre is pursuing various modernization and management initiatives. Administrative efforts include upgrading technical capacity for public real estate evaluation through the State Secretariat of Administration and the Progestão Acre program, supported by the World Bank.

Economic and logistical strategies involve proposals to transform the state into a cross-border hub connecting Brazilian producers to Andean and Asian markets via Peruvian ports. In the agricultural sector, new technical services for soil, leaf, and water analysis have been introduced in Rio Branco to support local family farmers.

Environmental management efforts have intensified through community engagement and strategic fire prevention. To strengthen response capabilities, the state hosted the 1st Exchange of Community Firefighters and Integrated Fire Management. Organized by the State Secretariat of the Environment (Sema) and the Acre Military Fire Department (CBMAC) in partnership with the Earth Innovation Institute, the event involved participants from Tocantins, Peru, and various conservation units to discuss climate change and integrated fire management methodologies.

Furthering these efforts, Sema and the Integrated Center for Geoprocessing and Environmental Monitoring (CIGMA) have identified six municipalities as high-priority zones for forest fire prevention and combat. Based on heat spot and burn scar analysis, the state submitted a list to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA) naming Feijó as the highest risk area, followed by Rio Branco, Sena Madureira, Tarauacá, Cruzeiro do Sul, and Brasiléia. These classifications are intended to guide the deployment of aircraft, surveillance, and firefighting brigades. Additionally, the state marked Amazon Day with the “Amazônia: o ar que eu respiro” race to promote environmental awareness.
