Argentine Alfajor Championship and World Championship

Overview

The 2026 Argentine Alfajor Championship, held at the Club Ferro Carril Oeste in Buenos Aires, featured more than 80 producers from provinces including Córdoba, Santa Fe, Mendoza, and Misiones. The competition utilized a new format with two distinct national titles for industrial and artisanal production.

In the Industrial category, Arroyito was named champion, followed by Alfajor Barrigón in second place. In the Artisanal category, Sr. Alfajor secured the top title, earning four gold medals across various subcategories. Other notable gold medalists included Orense, recognized for texture and fruit-based categories, and Alma de Campo, which won for ‘dulce de leche ecstasy’.

Producers from Misiones, specifically the brands Regional and Mianna, were noted for their participation in the World Alfajor Championship under the support of the Origen Misiones program. Regional utilizes yerba mate and cassava starch, while Mianna focuses on gluten-free products.

Following the national event, the 5th World Alfajor Championship took place at BA Ferial from August 15 to August 17. Featuring over 130 exhibitors and more than 700 samples evaluated by a specialized jury, the international competition included participants from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and other nations.

El Rodeo, an enterprise from Catamarca, was named the overall winner of the championship with its fig, coconut, and walnut creation, also securing first place in the Fruit category. The brand Gulero was recognized as the Alfajor PYME winner. Mendoza-based Entre Dos earned four honors, including first place for Best White Chocolate Coating and Best Alfajor Cookie, second place for Best Alfajor Aroma, and third place for Best Glazed Alfajor.
