Athletic and outdoor sporting events in Croatia

Overview

Various athletic and outdoor sporting events have been held across Croatia.

In early August, Modrovec hosted the 18th Modrožanska race and the 23rd Marijan Lukin Memorial. The event included children's races, a 2.1 km citizens' race, and a 10.5 km main race. Members of the Rudolf Pereš Athletic and Triathlon Club dominated the podiums, with Bruno Kos winning the men's main race and Suzana Dinjar winning the women's category. Meanwhile, the 25th anniversary of the Starigrad – Veliko Rujno mountain race attracted participants from Croatia and Slovenia. Slovenian runner Jure Jarc won the men's competition, while Martina Horvat won the women's category.

In late August, the Koprivnica and Bilogora regions hosted several competitions. The Robin Koprivnica Trail saw approximately 170 participants compete on 5 km and 15 km courses. This was followed by the 6th Rotor & Robin XCM forest mountain bike race in Glogovac, where over 100 cyclists navigated routes in the Bilogora hills. Additionally, the 8th round of the Strmac Trail League was held, with Antonio Jurčević and Antonija Čeliković securing first place in the men's and women's categories, respectively.

Upcoming events include the third edition of the Turopolje Trail Ključić Brdo on September 12. Organized by Atletski klub Turopolje as part of the KontinenTrail league, the event offers four routes ranging from a 4 km walk to a 25 km trail run, with mountain running champion Nikola Špoljar among the participants. On October 3, the Split TRI triathlon will take place at the Žnjan location. Featuring a new course due to local roadworks, the event includes a sprint triathlon, a super sprint for beginners, and an aquathlon for children under 12.
