Liguria (57.7 %) and Piedmont (65.8 %) have the highest gaps; in Marche’s Pesaro‑Urbino province 14 towns lack a staffed branch and 13 have no ATM, while Umbria averages 1.4 closures per month.

The latest CNA briefing notes that the 11,000‑plus branch closures have left about 310,000 enterprises and 933,000 employees without a local bank. In Abruzzo the 61.3 % gap now covers 163,769 residents and 11,085 firms; Piedmont’s 65.8 % gap affects roughly 665,000 people and 48,300 businesses. Umbria’s served communes fell from 75 to 59 (a 21.3 % decline). CNA reiterates that digital services cannot fully replace the personal contact needed by seniors and small firms, calling for targeted policy action.
