The Ambassador also noted that the absence of an official monument allows far-right groups to attempt to co-opt the historical legacy, emphasizing that the effort to honor Sobieski is not anti-Turkish or anti-Muslim, noting that members of the Turkish religious community in Austria participated in recent official commemorations.
