Blue Origin aerospace infrastructure expansion
Overview
Blue Origin is expanding its aerospace manufacturing and launch infrastructure across the United States.
In Texas, the company is constructing Constellation Park, a 1.3 million-square-foot complex in Hutto. This facility serves as a production hub for satellite and communications programs, such as the TeraWave and Quartz networks, while manufacturing subsystems like solar arrays and avionics.
In Florida, the company is scaling operations to support the New Glenn reusable orbital launch vehicle, with total investments exceeding $3 billion. A central $330 million expansion of the Rocket Park manufacturing campus near NASA’s Kennedy Space Center is expected to be completed in summer 2027. This facility will utilize automated systems for welding, machining, and inspection to produce up to 150 upper stages annually for the New Glenn 9x4 configuration.
To achieve its goal of multiple space launches per week by the end of the decade, Blue Origin is also expanding launch infrastructure at Cape Canaveral by adding two additional launch pads to the existing LC-36 complex. Additionally, the company is developing new maritime platforms and vessels to recover rocket boosters, a move intended to facilitate faster refurbishment and hardware reuse.
As part of its efforts to increase launch cadence, Blue Origin has submitted a proposal to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to raise the annual launch limit for the New Glenn rocket at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station from 12 to 50 launches. The FAA is currently reviewing a draft environmental assessment regarding operations at Space Launch Complex 36A, which includes engine tests, first-stage landings, and payload-fairing recovery. The review evaluates the impact of increased activity on noise, wildlife, and public safety, comparing the proposal against a ‘no-action alternative’ that would maintain the current limit.
