Specific tracks such as ‘One Of Us’ and ‘Miss America’ touch on subjects including loss and the opioid crisis. While the album utilizes traditional country elements like honky-tonk and ballads, it also incorporates mariachi horns and expansive arrangements.

In anticipation of the release, Flowers debuted the single ‘Tiger’s Blood’ at the Newport Folk Festival. He described the move to this genre as a way to find a “musical home for the personal stories he carries.” To support the album, Flowers is embarking on a headline tour across North America, the UK, and Ireland throughout September and October, including a scheduled performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 15 October.
