The South American Volleyball Championship is currently underway at the Maracanãzinho gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian women's national team has maintained a perfect record, most recently securing a 3-0 victory over Colombia with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 36-34. Standout performer Ana Cristina continues to lead the team, scoring 28 points in the match against Colombia. This victory keeps Brazil at the top of the standings with nine points, ahead of second-place Argentina.

However, Brazil's Rosamaria was forced to leave the court during the second set against Colombia due to a knee injury following a collision and is scheduled for medical examinations.
