Budapest Champions League final 2026
Overview
In May 2026 Budapest was selected to host the UEFA Champions League final, prompting a city‑wide four‑day festival with fan zones, concerts and extensive broadcast coverage.
UEFA’s sponsor Heineken rolled out a series of fan‑activation programmes ahead of the match. On 27 May the brand launched promotions in Brazil, including a digital foosball experience and a traveling trophy tour, while in Hungary it partnered with the Champions Festival at Heroes’ Square to give fans a chance to win tickets to the final and enjoy an after‑party.
The following day Heineken extended the fan experience to Vietnam, converting venues in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City into “mini football cathedrals” with large screens, live commentary and interactive games that allowed thousands of Vietnamese supporters to watch the final together.
To accommodate the influx of visitors, low‑cost carrier Wizz Air added nearly 80 extra flights over three days, operating additional services between Budapest, London and Paris and moving roughly 100,000 passengers with a near‑full load factor.
