In early 2026 Côte d’Ivoire’s Alépé department recorded 51 collisions that injured 105 people and killed three, while Burkina Faso logged more than 11,000 accidents with 8,997 injuries and 649 deaths in the first half of the year. Five drivers paid fines through the FASO ARZEKA platform. Citizens praised the technology as a discipline tool but called for gradual implementation and strong public‑awareness campaigns.

In Côte d’Ivoire, the Transport Ministry’s sixth licence‑withdrawal commission on 30 July suspended 22 driver licences and reinstated eight after reviewing 41 serious‑crash cases, notably a Touba‑Biankouma accident that caused 39 deaths and 45 injuries. Both countries continue to combine enforcement tools with education campaigns to curb the high toll of road accidents.
